I bought this book in 1988. I know this because at that stage I used to write in my books. You know I don't think I've ever used it. Or maybe just once to make Clafoutis but now I use another book. Of course this is a classic but it is also rather off putting and you notice I only have Volume II. I think this qualifies as one of my "one day I'll be grown up enough, have enough time and somehow have metamorphosed into a careful enough cook to use this book" books. But not yet and as I'm over 40 not sure when.
This is also the book that inspired the Julie/Julia Project. Julie Powell is a braver woman than I am!
