On the road... unplanned occurrences

We've been travelling for over 2 months. We've driven over 5000 miles including all the trips we've taken. And we are still enjoying ourselves.

But I didn't realize quite how hot it was going to be in Chicago and New York in June and July. Or rather I did know but translating that into how it will make you feel - exhausted, cross, stupid, silent (depending on which person you are) - is harder.

And I hadn't anticipated that Lottie would go on museum strike. She is really heartily sick of all the museums and the worst is we haven't even got to New York or Washington DC yet. She is refusing to go back to the Art Institute of Chicago. She was seriously reluctant to go to the Field Museum yesterday. Not quite sure how I'm going to get the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney, the Guggenheim, the Smithsonian(s)... past her. She just wants to go home. Of course none of us are exactly sure where that is yet, but she knows it's not here and frankly she would just like to stop all the road trip nonsense and get on a plane.

Don't worry. She isn't miserable. Just dissenting.
