How do you apologise to a chicken?

Whoops. Just found out that when I shut the chickens up last night, I left one out. And I don't even have the excuse that she was hard to see in the dark as she's white. I'm sure I looked around so perhaps she was somewhere else in the field or garden. This morning she took it up with the neighbours in irate fashion. I wonder where she spent the night. She's none the worse for spending a night in a tree or hedge, which is a relief as although I didn't spot her, a fox could have easily.

Tonight I took a torch out and did a head count when Rob checked if they were all in.

This must be in the running for blog title of the year! Glad she survived the experience. We saw a fox on our pigsty wall the other night, beautiful but deadly.

Been there, done that!

In fact, last night, I counted and came up one short and searched the entire barn to no avail.

I hope she turns up today. We have 12 inches of snow on the ground, so she is either in a racoon's dinner menu, or she is strutting around in the barn somewhere getting annoyed with me!

That reminds me, I'd better go check, now that it is light outside.
