(Shouldn't that be July 4th to Americans?)
Anyway, we were invited to friends inland where the temperatures are high and the hospitality is warm. And the menu came from further east as our friend is from the midwest and he requested a midwestern menu from his mother who is visiting. Fried chicken, cornbread, beans, meatloaf, coleslaw, potato salad and corn on the cob. Wow. It was delicious and more than plentiful. (And I can't believe that our friend had the cheek to let his mother do all the cooking while he and his wife had a day and night in the city.)
Heading back into the city as the outside temperature dropped, we could see the fog rolling in over Twin Peaks. We didn't head out to watch fireworks though we could hear lots. Too busy and stressed about our flight back to the UK the following day.
